Eagles Close Out Sheridan Hills with a Heart-stopping Finish

by: Kahmari Singleton, 12, and Monica Sapp, 12
On Friday, January 13, our Varsity boys played an exciting game of basketball, beating Sheridan Hills. The boys fought hard scoring points, playing great defensively, reaching for steals, and rebounding the ball from the opponent, especially the team's forward Brandon Cox, who finished the game with 18 rebounds.

Chris Villard (12) and Samuel Rogers (11) did amazing, scoring 18 points each. This was a great game for our boys, but Sheridan Hills refused to back down, even until the very end.

In the first quarter our boys started off a bit slowly and stayed behind throughout most of the whole game. They were not on their game, missing shots, playing a bit poor defense, and not acting smart towards the ball. The Eagles started to play better as they played deeper in each quarter. They started to pick it up and when they did, they brought themselves back into the game.

In the fourth quarter, it was a really close game; we were going back-and-forth for the full eight minutes. When we were down to the last five seconds of the game, it was tied and Coach Martinez took his final time out. Chris Villard inbounded at half court to Anthony Terlonge (12), who drove down to the basket and shot the floater over the hands of two defenders. The ball left Anthony’s fingertips with less than one second on the clock, and time seemed to stop as the entire gym hushed and watched the ball sail smoothly towards the net. He made the shot and the crowd went wild, rushing the floor and the players. Everyone was on the court screaming and jumping up and down; we were very proud of our Eagles! Keep up the good work!

Be sure to come to the games tonight versus Doctors Charter to support our JV Boys, Varsity Girls, and Varsity Boys!
